Let’s start with Saturday, March 5... Max was a fussy butt that morning. Usually when he’s grumpy like that, I have to cuddle with him to calm him down. That morning, though, Max just wanted my side of the bed, and he didn’t want to share… As soon as I sat up, he was totally in my spot and totally passed out. I didn’t dare move him… So I ended up spending the rest of the morning turned around in bed…
I was cold... It's hard to use a blanket in this position!
After we got up and got ready, we went to Babies “R” Us and got a new stroller. The one we’ve had is bulky and hard to lug around. So we bought a new little one. Lightweight, portable, and SO much easier to fit in the trunk! After we got it, we headed to the mall and let Max ride in it. He LOVED it! He has always been a little kicker and his feet always have to be moving. He loves being able to swing his legs in this stroller!
Ryan got the headphones we ordered for him for Valentine’s Day when we got home. He sent me this picture while I was at work that night!
When I got home from work, I noticed that Max felt a lot warmer than usual. We couldn’t find the ear thermometer that we usually use, so we tried the armpit one. The stupid thing just kept going higher and higher and never beeped, so Ryan went to Wal-Mart and bought a forehead scanner thermometer. Max’s temperature was 99.8. We panicked a little--I know it’s not a high fever, but Max has NEVER had a fever! So I called the pediatrician’s office at 12:15 a.m. A nurse called me back and told me that a temperature like that is nothing to worry about--if it was over 100, then they would actually request that we try Tylenol. She said that we could give Max some Tylenol if we wanted to, but that it wasn’t necessary. She said it would probably help him and us sleep, though. Given that Max typically goes to sleep around nine, we decided to give it a go. He slept good after that, but I didn’t… I was up and down all night. His temperature didn’t rise, but it didn’t go down, either. It didn’t disappear completely until Monday when a new tooth came in… It was a long night and a long couple of days. Poor little Max was fussy and clingy in addition to having a cold and throwing up and having sore gums from his incoming teeth.
On Monday, March 7, Max did finally cut his third tooth! I’ll have a picture later on of the teeth he has and the order in which they appeared…
I love waking up to this cutie… He’s inherited his dad’s tongue!
That morning, Max decided it would be fun to dump his oatmeal into his lap…
Okay, so he's never intentionally dumped out his food... He just wants to chew on the containers!
We have been (and still are) trying to get Max to crawl. I was totally shocked when he pushed up onto his feet instead of his knees this day! The video I have is too hard to upload, but you can check it out if you’re my friend on Facebook! It’s pretty awesome!
On Tuesday, March 8, Maximus cut his fourth tooth! Poor little guy still wasn’t feeling too hot that day…
So, I let him play on the floor in his birthday suit for a bit--that usually cheers him up a little!
Poor sleepy little guy...
On Wednesday, March 9, Max turned 8 months old… I can’t even believe it!!
Our little 8 month old... Big enough for 12 month old pajamas!
On Thursday, March 10, I let Max try scrambled eggs… I didn’t realize he wasn’t supposed to have the whites, though… Bad Momma! We won’t be doing that again any time soon. It seemed like his poor little tummy didn’t feel very good for the rest of the day.
Ryan’s brother, Cameron, came over that night. His car was being fixed at Pep Boys. I made us all quiche for dinner and we let Max try grapes for the very first time. We finally found a fruit that Max can eat!! We were very excited.
Such a tired little guy this morning...
I'm not sure if he's trying to crawl or trying to learn how to push himself into a sitting position...
On Friday, March 11, Max almost had his first ever falling off the bed experience… The little stinker fell asleep while I was feeding him, so I laid him down on the bed. He was totally out. I had to work that night, so I was going to make dinner during the day so Ryan and I would both have something besides microwave meals for dinner that night. I kept checking on Max in between ever step of the recipe. Not once did more than five minutes go by without me checking on him. Just as I was about to start chopping chicken, though, I heard something and decided I’d better go check on the little guy. As I got to the top of the stairs and peeked around the corner, I saw this…
I about had a heart attack. “Max!!” I gasped and ran to the bed. He got wobbly thanks to my excitement, but luckily he didn’t fall off. I obviously didn’t snap the picture until I was right there ready to catch him if he fell!
Ryan and Josh had one last guys’ night that night while I was at work. As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, Josh got his mission call from his church and he was due to report to the Missionary Training Center (MTC) on March 16. They’ve been hanging out together with Max every Friday while I’ve been at work.
Anyway, here are some pictures I got of Max trying to feed himself that day…
He pulls the funniest faces... HaHa!
Snot bubbles... HaHa! My poor kid... I've got so much blackmail!
On Saturday, March 12, the Nelsons threw a luncheon to celebrate Josh’s mission and to say goodbye to him for the next two years. Before the luncheon, though, we did family pictures! I was the photographer and my best work is not done indoors, so my apologies if they don’t look so great!
The grandkids! Yup, they're all boys! HaHa!

I didn’t get very many pictures of every at the luncheon… Hardly any, actually… I was busy socializing! Ryan’s family is nice and a they live all over the place, so I have to talk to them when I can!
Grandpa Oleson, Tamra, and Josh!
Uncle Pat and Josh!
After the luncheon, we went back to Ryan’s dad’s house to celebrate Nixon and Jaden’s birthdays. Nixon turned 6 on March 11 and Jaden turned 4 on March 13!

Max finally taking a nap!!
When we got home, Max thought he would help Mommy edit some pictures... :-)
On Sunday, March 13, Max cut his fifth tooth! We also went to Ryan’s dad’s house to visit that evening.
On Monday, March 14, my dad and Michelle brought over my bridesmaid dress. It’s a pretty dress! Unfortunately, I didn’t realize they were shopping for dresses in the petite section, so I needed to go up a size. Unless I didn’t want to eat all day… HaHa!
On Tuesday, March 15, Ryan, Max, and I went for a walk. We walked from our house to Big K/K-Mart/whatever it’s being called these days. While we were there, we found this chicken that runs around to the tune of “The Chicken Dance.” Max thought it was hilarious! He kept laughing at the thing hysterically! So of course we had to buy it. On our way home from our walk, we stopped at the gas station to get a drink. One of our neighbors works there, and he and his girlfriend were both there so we chatted for a bit before we headed home. It’s funny, we actually met them at the gas station rather than around the townhomes!
Anyway, here are some photos from the day!
Ready to go! This kid does not slump... He is always as stiff as a board!

On Wednesday, March 16, Ryan’s brother, Josh, entered the MTC. That morning before he left, though, Ryan and his dad took Josh out to breakfast at IHOP. I know it was an emotional morning… These three men have been really good friends to each other and I know that everyone has had a hard time saying goodbye to Josh. I’m really glad they got to spend the morning together.
We are all very proud of Josh and the choices he has made and we are all going to miss him during the next couple of years. Josh has been a great example to those around him and has brought happiness into the lives of everyone he’s met!

Here are a few pictures I got of Max that day…
Funny boy...
Max feeding himself... With the wrong end of the spoon!
This boy has a talent for wriggling out of his diapers...
On Thursday, March 17, I gave Max some cereal we had purchased at Big Lots! a while back. It was the brand “Nature’s Goodness” and it was only $.30. This one was “Oatmeal Cereal with Cinnamon.” If you bought baby food that said “Oatmeal Cereal with Cinnamon,” what would you expect to be in it? “Carrots” has carrots and water, “Apples” has apples and water… I thought “Oatmeal Cereal with Cinnamon” would have oatmeal, cinnamon, and water… So, I didn’t check the label until after he’d eaten. But, do you know what the first ingredient listed was? APPLES!! Max is allergic to apples!! I was so pissed. And guess what else was in it. Brown sugar!! What kind of company puts brown sugar in a Stage 2 food?! And cinnamon wasn’t even listed… “Spices” was listed… I won’t be buying baby food from this company again…
:-) Eating bad, bad food... But he doesn't know any better!
Max popped out tooth number six in behalf of St. Patty’s Day… Poor kid is getting teeth left and right!
Also on St. Patrick’s Day, I snapped some fun pictures of Max… Enjoy!!
On Friday, March 18, Max tried sweet potatoes with cinnamon for the first time ever and he LOVED them! They are officially his favorite food. He never really waits with his mouth open for food when I feed him, but man, oh, man, does his jaw drop for those sweet potatoes with cinnamon!
Max and I went for a walk... His hat kept falling down!
It's too big, but that hat is just so cute on him!
On Saturday, March 19, Max got to try watermelon for the first time ever! He doesn’t seem to mind the taste… I blended it and mixed it in his oatmeal and he was just fine with that! But when I let him eat a piece of it, this is the face he pulled:
Sadly, both Ryan and Max got puffy, red eyes and bumps after eating the watermelon… I guess they are both allergic!
Ryan and I took Max to the Museum of Ancient Life at Thanksgiving Point that day. It was fun, but I think Max is still a little young to really enjoy the museum! Maybe if we go next summer he will be more interested! He did seem to enjoy himself, though. He liked seeing the waterfall and the other kids, and he enjoyed touching the touchable exhibits--everything, that is, except for the sand... He also really liked to souvenir Daddy picked for him--a stuffed dinosaur! He smiled really big at it!
Anyway, here are some pictures we got at the museum!
Touching stuff!
LOL, Daddy didn't realize that the glass was slanted... Little Max bumped his head!
We're in a museum and he's interested in his shoes... LOL!
Oh, no! The dinos are going to get us!
Rawr!
What's that?! Waterfall!!
He does not like sand!
Looking at the waterfall!
Looking at the fishies!
This little monster loves my hair!
Pulling Momma's hair again!
On Monday, March 21, Ryan and I took Max to Wal-Mart to go grocery shopping. We ran into one of my old regular customers, Susan! She got to meet Max and we talked to her and her husband for a bit. After we got home from shopping, Max got his first taste of blueberries. Max now has two fruits in his diet! Grapes and blueberries. Yay! He also cut his seventh tooth that day! Here are some photos from the day…
Trying to learn how to use his bottle by himself!
Reading time!
And that’s about it! Thanks for reading and check back later for future updates!
