Slacker...

So, we have some updates from the past few of weeks… Most of these are just kind of day-to-day happenings, but Max did have a doctor appointment, too.

On Sunday, September 26, Max, Ryan, and I met my step-dad’s niece, Tracy. It was fun to meet her. She seems like a really nice girl. She has two kids and they just moved here to Utah from Idaho. We didn’t stay and visit for very long, though, because poor little Max was still having a hard time with switching formulas and wasn’t feeling very good. He’s doing much better now, by the way. We’re using the Kirkland Signatures brand from Costco and he’s doing really well on it now--except he doesn’t burp as easily as he used to, if he burps at all…

On Monday, September 27, I let Max watch Baby Einstein’s “Baby Bach” while I was cleaning our bathroom. Not long after I let him start watching, I heard him yelling. I peeked in to see what was going on and he was definitely staring at the screen, but he kept yelling at it. I’ve let him try watching a couple times since then and he always just yells. I don’t know if he dislikes it or if he dislikes not knowing where I am…

Here’s a picture of the cutie watching it!

On Tuesday, September 28, my friend Cozette came to visit with her son, Braxton, and her sister, Emily. Cozy had her little boy in January this year. She wanted to meet Maximus and hadn’t been able to until now because she spent most of the Summer in New Mexico visiting her sister. I was glad I got to see her, though! She’s a cutie, as always, and it was fun to see the things Max may be doing in six months by watching Braxton. Hopefully we’ll all get to hang out more often so our babies can be friends!

Here are a couple pictures from Tuesday!

Aunt B bought this shirt for Max!

And here are some pictures from Wednesday, September 29...

Daddy bought this shirt on clearance for Max… It’s so cute! I love it!

Max getting ready to roll! And you can see Malibu’s paw coming in from under the door… That’s going to be a problem when Max gets a little bigger and decides to touch it and she tries to yank it back under…

Max rolling! Gotta love the spit/drool hanging from his lip…

Landing the roll! HaHa!

I love his eyebrows… Just like Daddy’s!

Here are some pictures that were taken on Thursday, September 30.

My mom bought this shirt for Max when she went on her cruise…

He threw up on it about an hour after I put it on him… He doesn’t really want to sell us! ;-)

Max is now a Tummy Time Machine!!

On Saturday, October 2, Ryan and I decided to go to Burlington Coat Factory in Murray. We’d checked out the one in Orem and they had some really cute baby suits (and I’ve been wanting to get one for Max for his blessing) but they didn’t have a lot in his size. The Murray location was a lot bigger but their clothing arrangements are ridiculous. No sizes are in the right place and something was missing from every outfit his size--the tie, the shirt, the vest, the pants… So we decided we’d just get one at the Orem location.

On our way home, Max started getting hungry and we were going to return a printer to my dad, so we swung by his house. The fact that I carry an extra shirt for myself in our diaper bag proved to pay off for the first time ever while we were there… Max threw up on me. :-/

That night before we went to bed, we let Max do Tummy Time as usual. He rolled ten times in a row! It was amazing! He rolled to both sides.

Here’s some pictures from the day…

Right before we left for the day, I was feeding Max. He sneezed while I was burping him and when I was done and put him in the car seat, I saw that my earring had gotten looped around his ear…

Max’s hands just crack me up… I don’t know how he sleeps like this!

Max smiled SO big for Grandpa Leonard!

On Sunday, October 3, we went to Ryan’s mom’s house for dinner. Ryan loved the soup she made so he got the recipe from her and has been begging me to make it ever since… I will one of these days! But I have another soup recipe I’d like to try first… ;-) While we were there, Max threw up on me again. It wasn’t bad enough for me to change my shirt this time, but I did have to go rinse the milk out of my hair.

We had also told my grandparents that they could come over that evening to visit Max. So we took him home to see them. Max was a little bit fussy while they were over--he gets that way when he does too much or sees too many people during the day. :-/

Max snoozin’ after a long day!

On Tuesday, October 4, Max and I went grocery shopping by ourselves for the first time ever. We’ve gone quite a few times to pick up just a couple of things and to go run errands, but we’ve never gone to get the whole week’s supply of groceries. We have always gone with Ryan.

But, because Ry is always so busy with school and work, he doesn’t get to see us very much. I want him to be able to spend some good, quality time with Max and me when he does get to see us, so I’m going to try to do the grocery shopping on my own with Max during the day while Ryan is at work from now on.

I used my new sling to carry him in since our car seat doesn’t lock in to a shopping cart. Our first attempt was a success, other than the fact that I was too nervous to bend over and grab a 24-pack of soda while I had Max in the sling… So we skipped soda for the week! Oh, and it also took me an hour and a half to get in and out of the store… :-S

We survuved!

A very full cart!

We bought this before Max was born. I never did get a picture of it until now!

He rolled off the blanket. :-)

Max doing Tummy Time!

Here are some pictures of Max from Wednesday, October 6.

On to the 3-6 month size... :-(

HaHa, he's such a cute little guy! These are the slippers Aunt B just got for him!

Max LOVES Tummy Time now!

On Thursday, October 7, Max had a check-up with Dr. Gibson to see how his head shape is doing. Ry couldn’t get out of work, so I took Max by myself. They don’t typically do three month appointments at this doctor’s office, so the nurse seemed like she wasn’t sure what to do. She weighed him but didn’t get his other measurements. The doctor thought it was odd that she hadn’t gotten his height and length, so he took those measurements.

Max’s 3 Month Stats:
Head Circumference - 16 inches (33.33%ile)
Length - 24.25 inches (60.95%ile)
Weight - 14.75 pounds (80.54%ile)
Weight-to-Length - 74.86%ile

The doctor accidentally printed the wrong paper, so we got an extra one this time: the weight-to-length stat.

Dr. Gibson said that Max’s head looks MUCH better than it did the last time we saw him and that his neck muscles are definitely doing better. But, he said that he needs to see this much more improvement at Max’s next appointment or we’ll need to see one or two specialists--one who specializes in physical therapy and one who gives babies helmets… I’m really hoping Max doesn’t need a helmet. They’re so ugly and I read somewhere that they have to be worn 23 hours a day! Go to http://starbandkids.com/resources/gallery.htm to see what the helmets look like… So, we’re continuing the stretches and the side sleeping for now.

I also asked the doctor while we were there how long was too long for Max to sleep at night. We got really lucky and have an awesome baby--Max likes to sleep and he sleeps for a LONG time! Dr. Gibson said that he wouldn’t let him go eight hours without food. So now I have to set my alarm for eight hours after Max eats at night, because he happily sleeps longer than eight hours if we don’t wake him.

I also asked the doctor about teething. He took a look at the white nubs on Max’s gums and told me he thinks they’re probably just cysts. After I left I realized I probably should have gotten more information about that… I read in my book a while back, though, that mouth cysts are common in newborns and that they are harmless and will disappear on their own. They’re basically just water, I guess.

After we got home, I took a look at the box of diapers I’d purchased and opened two days before and realized that Max was too heavy for them. It’s no wonder he had suddenly been having so many leaks--the diapers were too small! He’s now in Size 2’s!

Max in his jacket, ready to see the doctor!

Daddy thought Max’s chubby belly was so funny!

I was supposed to go back to work at Walgreens on Friday, October 8. I’m so glad I didn’t have to go--it would be so devastating now! Though I am looking for a different job. I’m trying to find something where I can work no earlier than 11 P.M. and no later than 5:00 A.M. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. If anyone knows of any place that is hiring and accepts complex schedules, please let me know! I’m planning to apply at Winco and Macey’s (though they’re not open on Sundays…) in Orem this week.

Here’s a picture from Friday.

On Saturday, October 9, Max turned three months old! I can’t believe how big he is getting! He is becoming so much more responsive and active. He loves to kick his legs and flail his arms! It’s nearly impossible to bathe him without getting soaked now. He has also recently picked up on imitating Ryan and me. If I pull a face at him, he acts like he’s trying to figure out how to pull the same face back at me. Ryan has been sticking out his tongue at Max, and as soon as he does, Max does it back--whether he’s hungry or not! Max has become very interested in his hands. He likes to hold out a fist and stare at it! He is also learning how to hold onto things aside from my hair… He can hang on to some of his teethers and toys for a couple minutes now without dropping or throwing them!

And here are a few pictures from Saturday…

Sitting naked in the Bumbo!

Strong little dude!

:-D

SO into those fists... LOL!

Aunt B got this cute jacket for Max!

Some pictures from 10/10/10!

He was being SUCH a little kicker this morning!

On Monday, October 11, we got the picture below of Max in his new wearable blanket. We invested in this because he has gotten very wild in his sleep and always gets his blankets unwrapped…

On Tuesday, October 12, Max was so funny… He kept teasing Daddy! Every time Ryan turned his head away from Max, Max would smile. Every time Ry looked back at Max, Max would stop smiling. It was so funny!

Here are a couple pictures of him we got in his Bumbo that day…

On Wednesday, October 13, Ryan didn’t have school. He actually didn’t have classes for the rest of the week because of Fall Break. We’d been planning a blessing for Max that Saturday and my grandparents had some chairs and tables they said we could borrow, so we went to check them out. Max was kind of a grump but he kept smiling for me when I talked to him while my grandma was holding him. J

Ryan got these pictures of Max flipping off the camera that night… Totally Max--no help from Ry!

The next photo was taken on Thursday, October 14. Max is getting so good at Tummy Time!

And on Friday, October 15, I baked all day in preparation for Max’s blessing on Saturday. Ryan came home and tried to help out with Max, but Max just kept getting upset. Finally I took a break and sat down and held him. He was totally fine after that. What a mama’s boy! ;-) I like it!

Anyway, this has been a very long post, so I will cover Max’s blessing in my next post!

Hope everyone is fabulous!
